University of ss.Cyril and methodius in trnava (UCM)

The University was founded in 1997 and is named after the patrons of education – the scholars Constantine (who later took the monastic name of Cyril) and Methodius. Since its inception, this ambitious and dynamic university has facilitated access to higher education for hundreds of students, thus contributing to the enhancement of education and culture in the region. Since its foundation, it has also supported and facilitated the development of science and education in the region and in Slovakia by implementing previously undeveloped study programmes, while at the same time creating space for the emergence of entirely new ones. 

The mission of the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava is to provide quality three-level higher education in the research areas implemented in each university department, following the latest knowledge in science and technology. 

The University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava conclude bilateral and multilateral contracts, and international cooperation agreements, the university is a member of consortia, we provide equal conditions for all university students – domestic and foreign, we support academic mobility, we make an association of international students, intercultural dialogue and its dissemination is an idea of our university, the university is also a member of many scientific and research projects with international competence. 

UCM actually has five faculties and one institute – the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Mass Media Communication, the Faculty of Natural Sciences, the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Institute of Management.  Among the programmes on offer is the Special Programme for the Protection and Restoration of the Environment in Slovakia. 

In terms of numbers, there are currently 5520 students at the University, of which 306 come from abroad, from a total of 20 countries. The University currently offers 146 accredited courses, 9 of which are taught in a foreign language. The University has a total of 486 staff, 48 of whom are professors. Since its foundation, the University has produced a total of 29,789 graduates. Currently, the University is the publisher of 20 periodicals and has been the successful researcher of 134 projects in 2022.   

Andrea Čajková is a member of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava. As an associate professor in public policy and public administration, she deals with the issues of public management, public policy, public administration and governance, sustainability, civic engagement, and participation, using knowledge management as an innovative management tool and the overall modern trend of good governance. She is the author and co-author of more than 20 scientific and professional books and textbooks and almost 100 scientific studies and professional works. She is an experienced teacher and a member of international scientific groups and networks with a rich history in public policy, leadership, and governance. As an expert in creating, facilitating, and implementing civil society projects and sustainability, she has been leading and facilitating the process of creating and implementing civic engagement and public policy creation projects in the Trnava self-governing region. 

Ildikó Matušíková works as a researcher in the field of molecular plant physiology in response to environmental stress. She focuses on studying the impact of metal toxicity on crop plants. Revealing mechanisms of plant tolerance to high metal concentrations, she seeks plants capable of removing metal pollutants from soils for remediating contaminated areas. She leads projects oriented towards phytoremediation, biofortification and food safety. 

Marta Kuhnová works as a research project manager at the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava and an assistant professor at the Faculty of Education at Charles University in Prague. She obtained a Ph.D. degree in the field of chemistry education. She is skilled in research management, monitoring international funding opportunities and developing international research and cooperation agendas with responsibility for the full lifecycle of research projects. She is an experienced teacher. an evaluator and member of working groups. Currently, she is an ambassador for Slovakia in the field of research management as a part of the RM-Roadmap project. 

Tomáš Ruc is a PhD student at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava . He has extensive experience in operational and strategic management from his previous working life. His current focus is on public administration with a focus on local government.
