Wageningen university & research

The interdisciplinary team of Wageningen University & Research explores educational approaches that empower learners to responsibly cope with socio-ecological sustainability challenges and that support transformation of people and practices. We research and facilitate participatory and transformative teaching and learning approaches that invite relational, ethical, and empowering ways of being, knowing and doing.”

Dr. Valentina C. Tassone

Dr. Valentina C. Tassone
is an assistant professor within the group ‘Education and Learning Sciences’ at Wageningen University & Research. She has an interdisciplinary background, bridging environmental and sustainability sciences with education and learning sciences. Valentina is dedicated to exploring deep teaching and learning approaches that invite reflexivity, an ethos of responsibility and empowerment towards socio-ecological sustainability challenges. Her research studies take place in the context of (higher) education, community settings or society at large, and often at their crossroads.

Dr. Cindy Quik

Dr. Cindy Quik is a postdoc at the Education and Learning Sciences Group of Wageningen University & Research. She has a background in biology, agroecology, and earth science. During her interdisciplinary PhD project, she studied dynamics of peatlands in space and time. Subsequently she worked as a university soil science teacher, dedicated to illustrating the relevance of soil to students of various study programmes. Education and science communication are part of her key interests.

Dr. Divya Pandey

Having a multidisciplinary background, Dr. Divya Pandeys research has been focused on how plant and soil systems respond to environmental and climatic stresses (specifically air pollution, heat, drought, soil erosion, and nutrient imbalances), and how this affects processes such as greenhouse gas emissions, carbon dynamics, and nutrient use efficiency. She extends her research to investigate how these processes interact with socioeconomic and policy factors within the food system, and finding ways to engage diverse groups in addressing the challenges facing food systems, agriculture, and soil health.
Divya participated to the LOESS project from September 2023 till October 2025.

Camilla Ramezzano

Camilla Ramezzano, a Junior Researcher and Trainer within the group ‘Education and Learning Sciences’ at Wageningen University & Research, is passionate about promoting environmental justice and sustainability. She focuses on empowerment for sustainability, environmental education, and aligning Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with education. With an MSc in International Development Studies and a minor in Irrigation and Water Management, her interests lie in exploring soil governance and water management, alongside transformative learning ecology, aiming to support positive changes in natural resource management, particularly within smallholder farming communities, through collaborative efforts among stakeholders.
Camilla participated to the LOESS project from July 2023 till August 2024.
